As a rule I don't normally do a blog post of what's happening.....that usually gets done in the fb group or on the fb page. But what I've got to tell you - fb just doesn't have enough room for it! Ok, here's a basic summary of my news:
Upcoming HolidayFrom the 16th June - 22nd July I'll be over in Vancouver for my nephews wedding and as it happened most of the family is going over so we thought - 'Let's do it!' and we planned a holiday around the wedding. As you do! Not only are we going to be in Vancouver for the wedding but we'll be doing a 7 day Alaskan Cruise, seeing the sights of the Rockies and also stopping off in Hawaii on the way home.....so it's going to be so much fun. I'll be taking my laptop and ipad over so I'll be able to keep in touch with you all but also, as I do on holidays, I'll be blogging each day. I started blogging on our other overseas holidays to keep family and friends informed of what was happening and as everyone enjoyed it so much I kept doing it for our next overseas trip. You can see both our trips here and here - only read it if you have time! lol! But the holiday got me thinking about what to wear to the wedding and also on the rest of our trip with the different seasons that we'll be experiencing. Which then bought me to designing 2 new outfits to take with me and I thought I'd make and sell the patterns as well..... 2 New PatternsI was looking for easy to wear and no ironing outfits for the trip. I wanted a loose top that would go over jeans - navy or white - that can be sleeveless or with sleeves and looks interesting and different. Pattern #1 I came up with ....... I'm still working on a name for this top. It's an asymmetrical top that I can have with sleeves or without. It covers all the right places and is just a breeze to wear. And to add a bit of difference you can colour blocking or keep it the same colour. But I've also added a little opening across the chest. It is made from a 2 way knit not a 4 way. And as it's not meant to be firm fitting you could make it also out of a rayon, poly or silk. Pattern #2 I love wearing dressing but the ones I have in my wardrobe need ironing and would just take out all the fun on the trip. So back I went to my sketch pad to work on something easy, simple and feminine to wear. I had a dress in my wardrobe that I loved wearing but as I've found these new feminine curves over my body, this gorgeous dress didn't fit anymore. So I've created a simple version of it. It's the Miss Maggie Dress. It's made from a 2 way stretch but won't be suitable for Scuba, Ponte, Lycra or Spandex. It features a lovely drapped Cowl Neck and a flared skirt and it just seems to cover me well in all the right places. You do have the option to not have the Cowl Neck and just have it plain. Also, a few sleeve options will be available too. New Business VentureThis new business venture - the name will be revealed soon - has been in the making for about a year now. I've partnered up with my good friend and colleague, Rae, to design and sell gorgeous PDF patterns and teach you the fashion industry tips and tricks of sewing a well made garment. I'll still be working on 1PL though. What's the difference between my new business venture and 1PL? The designs and offers. I love designing dresses and also kids wear but my new business venture will be more about learning a new sewing technique with every PDF pattern you buy and also the designs are so different to 1PL. So I think there is enough room in the world to keep both going. Our plan is to sell PDF patterns and offer gorgeous Fabric Packs specific for that pattern. We've sourced and tested the fabric for you which will take away the guess work out of what fabric to buy for the pattern. Also, we are working on bringing you Sewing and Patternmaking Courses for those that want to learn more. Ok, I'll show you a few sneak peeks of our designs. We'll be starting our testing faze in the next few weeks so I'll let you know if you'd love to test out our new patterns. So, that's it for all my exciting news. Please leave a comment below and let me know what you think about all the new designs and also if you live in Vancouver.......let me know what's good to see.

Wow Ann! You have been busy and I love the look of the new patterns for 1PL. You new business venture sounds amazing and I would love to help out in any way you would need. I am always struggling with fabric choices so I love your idea of offering fabric packs as well!
